RETIREMENT– MAJOR MEGAN RAKOCZY, CD

1. Major Megan Rakoczy retired from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) on 14 December 2017 after 23 years of service to the CAF and the Communications and Electronics Branch.

2. Major Rakoczy joined the CAF on 24 June 1995 and graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in 1999 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. After completing her Signal Officer training, she served in Kingston, Ontario at the 1st Canadian Division Headquarters and Signal Regiment in various roles, including Troop Commander, Squadron Operations Officer, Squadron Administrative Officer, and Telecommunications Maintenance Officer. In 2001, newly promoted to Captain, she deployed on Op DANACA, Rotation 69 as the Task Force Signal Officer. Upon her return, she held positions of Squadron Administrative and Squadron Operations Officer within the Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment. In 2004, she was posted to 4 Engineer Support Regiment in Gagetown, New Brunswick, where she held the positions of Signal Officer and Operations Officer. She then was posted to Land Forces Trials and Evaluations Unit, Gagetown, New Brunswick, as a Trials Officer and the Adjutant in 2006. Promoted to the rank of Major in 2007, she was posted to the Royal Military College of Canada and completed a Master of Applied Science, Electrical Engineering. She taught at RMC as a Lecturer within the Electrical Engineering department for one year. In 2011, she was posted to the Director Land Command Systems Program Management (DLCSPM), initially as the Liaison Officer to Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics (CFSCE), then as Deputy Project Manager of LF SITAR In-Service Sensors, Fielding Officer of Medium Support Vehicle Systems, the User Engagement Cell Team Leader and for the last two years as the System Engineering Management Officer.

3. Megan has accepted a public service position within DLCSPM. With her spouse Chris Penney and their two young children Brooke and Christopher, she will remain in the NCR.

4. To celebrate her career, please join Major Megan Rakoczy for an informal retirement lunch which will be held at Moxie’s in the Bayshore Shopping Centre (100 Bayshore Dr, Ottawa) on 04 May 2018 commencing at 12h00.
