What an incredible evening we had this past Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Vimy Officer’s Mess. We were able to pay our respect on the 10th anniversary of our first casualties in Afghanistan – MCpl Anthony Klumpenhouwer (April 18, 2007) and Cpl Matthew McCully (May 25, 2007) as well as celebrate the 100th birthday of HCol David Hart!!! We began with testimonies from the Vimy Battlefield Study Tour from thankful members that took part in it as well as thanking our numerous sponsors that made it possible. We also acknowledge the presence of our two WWII vets, two Korean War vets, a communicator Capt(N) from Ukraine, retired LGen Thibault on his first ROSEN since retiring, our Branch Leader – MGen Loos, Branch Advisor – Col Yarker, Branch Chief – CWO Dupuis, Director of RCCS – Col Sullivan and many more. Our Colonel-Commandant was a splendid host and the evening was well orchestrated by the Band Master – WO Sylvain Gagnon, Mess Manager – Kim Palmer, VOM Chef – Kelly Emmerton, the Mess Staff and our Photographer – Don MacPherson. We finished the evening by reading well wishes and singing Happy Birthday to our guest of honour – HCol David Hart on his 100th birthday. Thank you all for making it a great evening.
