World Stage Moment for Canada

” Carignan is the first woman in Canada—and so far as the Forces can determine, the first in the world—to rise to her rank from the combat arms trades”.

Maclean’s Magazine
Congratulations Canada for a world class moment, promoting  Jennie Carignan to the rank of Brigadier-General and assigning her to the post of Chief of Staff, Army Operations at Canadian Army Headquarters. The General does a mean interview. According to an article in Maclean’s magazine, had this mother of four not pursued an Army career, she would have become a dancer. Check out the Maclean’s Magazine article, at the link above, to find out how the “Jennie Effect” has more than doubled the recruitment of women into Royal Military College.
This is great news for the women and men of the Canadian Armed Forces and our reputation as an amazing nation. Hats off Canada – you have made us so very proud.
