Defence One Article – Cognitive EW

Dear C&E Association Member,

The link below is to an article in DefenseOne by Patrick Tucker.  It relates to an EW capability that is being deployed with the Joint Strike Fighter – F-35.  The article suggests that this cognitive EW capability is more critical to the effectiveness of the JSF than any of its other capabilities such as speed, manoeuvrability and munitions carriage.  Perhaps this article might be of interest to those of our community who continue to address the challenges of achieving capability similar to DARPA’s stated goal ‘ EW software that can perceive new waveforms and attacks as quickly and as clearly as a living being can hear leaves rustle or see a predator crouching in the distance, then respond creatively to the threat…’
