Dear C&E Association Member
Most of you will already be aware of the National Association of Federal Retirees (NAFR) (formerly FSNA). For those who are not – The NAFR is a not-for-profit organization of nearly 185,000 federal retirees, veterans and their families. NAFR membership benefits include ‘advocating to make retirement better for public servants, veterans, and all Canadians, keeping you informed on matters affecting pensions and pensioners, access to exclusive savings, and opportunities to volunteer, socialize and have fun…'[Source…NAFR Discover the benefits of membership pamphlet.]
In addition to advocating for the protection of members’ pensions and health care security the NAFR also assists its members with information related to such topics as superannuation acts, Public Service Health Care Plan, the Pensioners Dental Services Plan. NAFR offers access to professional staff to provide answers to questions related to these topics and others.
NAFR allows members to take advantage of savings offered by their Preferred Partners. For example MEDOC Travel Insurance through Johnson Inc.
NAFR produces a workbook for members and their families to assist them with estate planning and with the winding up of an estate. This workbook is not intended to be exhaustive but does provide an excellent summary of information required for estate planning and other sources of information for survivor entitlements.
The above is just a snapshot of the NAFR benefits but hopefully it will give you an idea of the type of services offered.
For further and more detailed information on NAFR and to assess whether membership is something you might wish to consider you can access the NAFR website at www.federalretirees.ca or 1-855-304-4700
